The Brownwood Freshman Lions improved to 2-0 on the season with a 21-6 road victory over the Midland Greenwood Rangers Thursday,

The Lions opened the scoring in the second period with a 7-yard touchdown run by Logan McKibben, coupled with Hudson Reagan’s PAT, for a 7-0 lead.

Greenwood closed the gap to 7-6 before halftime, but the Lion defense stuffed the Rangers’ two-point conversion attempt.

The Lions stretched their lead to 14-6 in the third period as Ike Hall scored on a 33-yard carry and Reagan again added the extra point.

Brownwood’s final touchdown of the night came on a 19-yard carry by Jaylon Brown in the fourth quarter, and Reagan’s extra point resulted in the 15-point margin of victory.

Defensive standouts included Quinten McCarty (2 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack), Colton McMillian (6 tackles),
Logan Posey (1 tackle, 2 TFL, INT), Daylan McGee (3 tackles, 1 TFL) and Brown (6 tackles, 2 TFL).

Greenwood 10, JV Lions 6

The Brownwood JV Lions slipped to 1-1 on the season with a 10-6 road loss at Midland Greenwood Thursday.

The Lions defense played extremely well all night only allowing just one touchdown after a muffed snap by the Brownwood offense. Riley Soto, Brandon Holland, and Quentin Thompson recorded multiple tackles and big plays.

Brayden Daub scored the lone touchdown for the Lions on a 70-yard run. Luke Moss added a team-high six receptions for the Lions.

In other action, the Freshman/Sophomore team lost to Stephenville, 30-6.
