Elizabeth “Sunny” Gilkeyson, age 96, of Brownwood went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Sunny was born Monday, September 10, 1923 in Quincy, Massachusetts to Edward and Georgianna Jordan. She married L. L. Gilkeyson “Gil” on February 23, 1946 and began a life together that blessed them with two girls, Carol and Doris. Sunny served in the U.S. Navy in World War II as a Chaplain assistant in Bath, Maine. She also worked for Civil Service in the Finance department as a payroll clerk. After her time of service in the Navy she took on the role of homemaker and to raise her girls. Sunny enjoyed going to the Episcopal Church and the Church of Christ. She loved camping, sewing, playing cards, word search puzzles and reading. But most of all she loved spending time with her family and church family.

Sunny is survived by her daughter, Carol Barnett and husband Stephen of Seatac, WA; son-in-law Robert Rollins of Brownwood, TX; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband L. L. “Gil” Gilkeyson; daughter Doris Rollins; sisters, Doris Jordan, Midge Koblinsky and brother Robert Jordan.

Online condolences can be made to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net.
