
GRAPE CREEK – The Early Lady Horns concluded their pre-district volleyball schedule with a five-set loss at Grape Creek Tuesday night.
Playing without head coach Natalie Whitewood, who missed the game due to illness, the Lady Horns came up on the short end of a 25-7, 21-25, 25-12, 16-25, 15-11 decision.
Taylor Summers recorded 14 kills to pace the Lady Horns attack followed by four each from Alexa Portillo and Savannah Holt, three by Carrigan Norris, two by Gwen Phillips and one apiece by Grecia Yebra and Reagan Kirby.
Bethany Tomlinson dished out 17 assists, Summers added four and Norris was credited with one.
Summers also served a pair of aces while Norris tacked on one.
Defensively, Summers and Grace LaRue led the way with eight digs apiece trailed by Norris with seven, Madie Waldorf with four, Tomlinson with three, and Portillo and Tori Wood-Rush with one apiece.
Holt finished with all three blocks for Early.
The Lady Horns (5-3) are back in action Tuesday, Sept. 8 when they host Dublin in the District 8-3A opener.
