Betty Ruth Johnson, 91, of Elm Grove, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020.  Betty was born on May 24, 1929, near Winchell, Texas, to Ruff Hunter and May Pearce Hunter.

Betty married Hubert Johnson on December 19, 1948.  Hubert and Betty farmed and ranched their entire lives.  Betty was a member of the Bowser Community Church.

Betty is survived by her sons, Joe Johnson and his wife Melissa of Abingdon, Virginia; Lynn Johnson of Brownwood, Texas; daughters, Gayle Reeves and her husband Gary of Bowser, Texas; and Judy Gibson of Piedmont, Alabama; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.  Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hubert, her brothers, Pete Hunter and R. C. Hunter; her sisters, Jeanette White, Ella Mae Patrick and Dorothy Abernathy; and a precious grandson, Heath Gibson.

Graveside services on Friday, August 28, 2020, at Varga Chapel Cemetery with Sterling Lentz officiating.  Memorials can be made to the Varga Chapel Cemetery, the Bowser Community Church, or donor’s favorite charity.  Davis-Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
