The following was posted on the Early Longhorns Athletics Facebook page at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday:

It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you that we will not be traveling to Eastland tomorrow for the scrimmage. Unfortunately, our student athlete tested positive for COVID-19 and we presume that it was contracted off campus. We will not have anything football related tomorrow. We are going to have a team meeting Friday at 3 pm to discuss with our athletes the importance of their actions away from the school building and then release them for the day. We will be back to work on Monday with the first day of school. We ask that you monitor your student athlete at home and make sure that they are practicing social distance in areas where they have the possibility to be exposed. As we begin this journey this year we need to understand how valuable each game is and do our part away from the school to make sure that we get a chance to play this season. If your athlete shows any signs of illness please keep them home and notify a coach on staff. We are ALL IN on this season and we are excited to see our athletes compete on the field and in the gym!
Hook’em!

Earlier Wednesday the following was posted on the Early Longhorns Athletics Facebook page:

Longhorn Family,

We are monitoring the current situation with the COVID-19 cases related to the Summer Church Camp this past weekend. We had a football player that notified us that they attended the event and they are currently restricted from participating until said athlete has been medically cleared to return to athletics. We are still following UIL and TEA guidelines for safety and will continue to monitor the situation. The safety of our athletes is the most important part of this and we are working to keep them healthy and our seasons moving forward. Please let us know if your student attended the Summer Church Camp.
