Brownwood News – More than 11,000 acres, spread over several area fires, have burned so far this week in Brown or nearby counties.  With temperatures soaring to 107 to 111 degrees Tuesday, most area volunteer fire departments were stretched to the limit battling the blazes.  The Texas A&M Forest Service has joined the battle along with dozers and water haulers from various precinct county commissioners across the region.

UPDATED AT 6:00 pm WEDNESDAY, JULY 15

Eastland County Tidal Wave Fire 
174 acres, 75% contained

Mills County Buffalo Creek Fire

3,507 acres 80% contained

McCulloch County Waldrop Fire

1097 acres. 100% Contained

Gate 5 Fire McCulloch County 
4,000 acres, 40% Contained (acreage shown is less than previous report)

Lake Ivie Sims Fire

1100 acres 100% contained

Brown/Coleman County Line Fire

1000+ acres partially contained

Brown County CR 192 Fire five miles south of Bangs

800 acres 100% contained

Bangs FM-585 Fire

40 acres, 100% contained

Lake Brownwood Circle P Heights area

25 acres 100% contained

CR 346 Fire in Early
35 acres, 100% contained
