Brown County Sheriff’s Report

Brownwood News – The Brown County Sheriff’s Department responded to the following calls in recent days.

On Tuesday, June 30, deputies were dispatched to Highway 279 and FM 1850 in regards to a confrontation between a motorist and a work crew.  After speaking with parties involved, a man was placed under arrest for Terroristic Threat due to comments he had made to one of the workers.  He was also charged with Unlawful Carrying a Weapon due to being involved in criminal activity offense higher than a Class C.

On Thursday, July 2, at 14:55 hours, Corporal Jayson Bastardo was dispatched to County Road 158.  This was in regards to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  He spoke to a female who said on July 1, a subject took her vehicle to do some routine maintenance and never returned her vehicle.  A report was taken.

On July 2, Deputy Joe Thomas was dispatched to a report of a scam.  The complainant advised he was the victim of a scam where he bought two $500 gift cards.  A report was made.

On July 2, Deputy Joe Thomas was dispatched to Turner Drive in reference to a report of Burglary of a Motor Vehicle.  The complainant advised a known person took a speaker out of his vehicle.  A report was made.

On July 3, Sgt. Taylor Fletcher responded, along with Trooper Duke Hoy, to a hit and run on FM 1849 with a damaged mailbox and TxDOT sign.  No suspect was found and a report was made.

On June 30, Deputy Andre Smoot took a report for theft of scooter from W. Main Blvd. in Brownwood.  A report was completed.

On June 30, Deputy Smoot spoke with a complainant on County Road 215 referencing a stolen laptop.  A report was completed for further investigation.

On June 29, at about 20:51 hours, Deputy M. Davis was dispatched to Ennis Drive.  This was regarding a report of a dog at large that had possibly killed numerous chickens.

On Wednesday, July 1, at about 07:16 hours, Deputy Byron Langley arrived at Cherokee Drive in Brownwood in regards to a welfare check.  Dispatch advised that several 911 calls had come from a residence and a female was crying.  The female victim stated her husband had pushed her down after a verbal argument.

On Wednesday, July 1, at about 07:56 hours, Deputy Byron Langley spoke to a man on County Road 367 who stated he believes his neighbor has taken a bull from his property.

On Wednesday, July 1, at about 10:29 hours, Deputy Byron Langley spoke with a female victim by phone.  She stated she had lost her Driver License and Social Security Card at a gas station in Cisco.  She stated she had received a package from the Workforce Commission about applying for unemployment benefits but stated she did not file for unemployment and thinks someone had found her Driver License and Social Security card and attempted to use them.

On Wednesday, July 1, at 17:03 hours, Corporal Jayson Bastardo was dispatched to a walk-in report in reference to credit or debit card abuse.  He spoke to a woman who advised an unauthorized charge had been made to her debit card.  A report was taken.
