Dewey Leon Blanton, 62 (Blanket)

On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, Dewey Leon Blanton, loving brother and uncle, joined his Heavenly Father at the age of 62. Dewey was born on August 11, 1957 in Brownwood, Texas to Marvin Roscoe and Dorothy Nelson Blanton. He graduated from Blanket High school in 1975 and immediately joined the United States Army, serving as a sergeant in an Armor Division at Ft. Hood, TX. Dewey has worked for Superior Essex for 38 years 9 months, was a member of the Blanket Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Blanket City Council and a member of the Blanket First Baptist Church.

Dewey was the beloved brother of Eugene Blanton and wife Rena of Meridian, TX, Margaret Garcia and husband Domingo of Clifton, TX, Marvin Blanton and wife Jennifer of Campobelo SC, and Sonja Blanton of Blanket.  Dewey was the proud uncle of Tessa and husband Mike Pheil, Bryan Blanton, Tonya and husband Sean Albrecht, Krista and husband Josh Ogden, David and wife Julia Judah, Sara Blanton, Jared and wife Brittany Blanton, Michael and wife Whitney Blanton, Kelcey Blanton, Avereigh and husband Evan Plumley, and Leah Blanton. Dewey was also the proud great uncle of numerous nieces and nephews who he adored and spent time with as much as possible.

Dewey Blanton was preceded in death by his beloved parents Marvin Roscoe and Dorothy Nelson Blanton.

Dewey loves to work on wood projects with his father and helping his nieces and nephews with their Stock Show Projects. His life was his family, dedicating himself to the growth and happiness of those around him. He will be dearly missed and in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27 at 11:00 at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Family visitation will be held Friday, June 26 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Heartland Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that a donation is made to the Blanket Volunteer Fire Department in honor of Dewey.
