Brown County Grand Jury Returns 80 True Bills

Brownwoodnews-  On Tuesday, District Attorney Micheal Murray released the results of the May, 2020 session of the Brown County Grand Jury with Eigthy (80) True Bills being returned against Forty–Eight (48) persons. 

As a reminder, the definition of a True bill according to the law dictionary: the written decision of a Grand Jury (signed by the Grand Jury foreperson) that it has heard sufficient evidence from the prosecution to believe that an accused person probably committed a crime and should be indicted. Thus, the indictment is sent to the court.

The District Attorney‘s Office does not release names on new indictments until after the Grand Jury proceedings have been processed through the District Clerk and a file marked copy of the Grand Jury Report has been returned. 

The District Attorney‘s Office does not release names of Defendants who have been indicted by a Grand Jury but not yet arrested because of an indictment being sealed until the time of arrest. In addition, names of individuals who have had no formal charges filed against them and who are no billed by a Grand Jury will not be released by the District Attorney‘s Office at this time.
