Brownwood News –  Saturday morning at Lake Brownwood, numerous home and dock owners were checking their property for damage after severe storms brought high wind on Friday night, May 15.

The hardest hit area was Wild Duck Marina where the Kirkland Docks was destroyed as shown in the photo.

According to Lake Patrol Chief, Troy Henderson, there were 13 people inside the dock fishing when the storm hit.  “Around 10 pm Friday night, we received a call from dispatch that Kirkland Docks at Wild Duck Marina had blown over and had people inside. They did all escape with minor cuts and bruises, one woman possibly broke her arm, but everybody was safe, no life-threatening injuries,” Henderson said.  “We had reports the wind was up to 64 mph and there’s quite a bit of dock damage around McCartney Island and other parts of the lake,” Henderson said.

A large dock that sits on the point at McCartney Island was completely flipped upside down and was partially submerged. (photo above).

Across the peninsula, a small dock with pontoon boat was also upside down in the water and heavily damaged. (photo below)

Numerous homeowners around the lake were using chain saws to cut up fallen trees.
