Roy Haynes, 75 (Brownwood)

Roy Lee Haynes, 75, of Brownwood, passed away on May 12, 2020 at his home.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2020, at Heartland Funeral Home.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Eastlawn Memorial Park. (Funeral procession departing Heartland at 9:45 a.m.)

Roy was born on October 11, 1944, in Brownwood, to Lloyd and Falba Haynes. He attended Brownwood High School where he played football for the 1960 Brownwood Lions State Champion Team. The 1960 Brownwood Lions football team won the first State Championship in the history of Brownwood High. After graduation, Roy enlisted in the Army Reserve National Guard where he earned the Expert Rifle Badge. He was honorably discharged on March 7, 1971. After which, he began his career at 3M, retiring in 2004 with 32 years.  His hobbies include fishing, expert jig making, specializing in yellow cat, channel cat, bass, and crappie. He also enjoyed watching Gun Smoke and listening to Brownwood Lion football on Friday nights.

He is preceded in death by Parents, Lloyd and Falba Haynes; two brothers, Billy Haynes and Charles Haynes; and a Great-Grandson, JD Atkins.

Roy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nora Haynes; Daughters, Avaloi Haynes Lanning and husband Spencer Lanning of Proctor, Vermont, and Kathy Franks Maxwell of Brownwood; Son-in-law, Danny Maxwell of Brownwood; Son, Dwight Damon Franks and wife Camille Franks of Granbury;
Sisters, Robbie Sutton of Brownwood and Linda Clipper of Brownwood; 10 Grandchildren, Aubrey Lanning, Magan Maxwell  Atkins, Lily Maxwell, Chloe Maxwell, Josie Franks Lopez, Damon Franks Jr., Jessica Franks Martin, Jarred Franks, Darrion Franks, Abby Green and 8 Great Grandchildren.
