Any citizen who desires to address the City Council on a matter not included on the agenda may do so at this time. The City Council may not deliberate on items presented under this agenda item.  To comply with the provisions of the Open Meetings Act, the Council respectfully requests that prior to addressing Council that each person submit a citizen presentation form that is located at the entryway to the Council Chambers, stating your name, address, and topic of presentation.  All presentations are subject to a five (5) minute time limit.

Public Hearing

  1. Conduct a public hearing and consider an ordinances on first reading changing the zoning classification of the Parks Estate, Block 6, Lot 5 -Idlewild Addition Block 1, Lots 1 & 2, also known as BCAD property ID# 55659, 54156 and 54155 (located at the comer of Austin Avenue and Bonita Street) from R-1 Single-Family Residential District to C-1 Local Business District.According to the City, the request is being made by Brent Mosley who wishes to place an ice/water vending machine on the property and possibly, in the future, a storage unit facility.  The Brownwood Planning and Zoning Commission, in their meeting on April 2, heard from two residents that were opposed to the zoning change.  The P&Z also received four letters in opposition of the zoning change and denied the request.  Mosley requested that the City Council conduct a Public Hearing and consider the zoning change request.

  5. Consider on second and third/final reading changing Ordinance Section 50-68(a) of the City’s Code of Ordinances to prohibit dogs in the Bert V. Massey, II Sports Complex while league sanctioned baseball games, softball games and tournaments are being played.
  6. Consider ratification of the Mayor’s signature on a deed releasing a portion of a maintenance easement adjacent to the Pecan Bayou.
