Brownwood News – A resident of Early was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon following an incident on Saturday evening.

According to information from the Brownwood Police Department, on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at approximately 8:00 pm, officers with the Brownwood Police Department were dispatched to an address in the 1400 block of Ave I regarding a report of an assault.  The initial caller indicated that someone was possibly stabbed.

When officers arrived on scene, a large crowd was present and a young male juvenile was located with a severe laceration to his left hand.  Officer’s were able to calm the group and begin investigating the incident.  It was learned that an argument between two females turned physical inside one of the homes.  The female, who was deemed the aggressor, was escorted out of the home and a crowd formed around her.  The female then allegedly pulled out a box cutter and began swinging it in the air and at people, ultimately striking the male juvenile.  The female was able to enter a vehicle and leave the scene.

A short time later, the female suspect was located in the 1200 block of Austin Ave.  The female was positively identified as Jennifer Ranee Ramsey, 44, of Early.  Ramsey was interviewed and subsequently arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, the police report states.

According to Brown County online jail records, Ramsey was still in jail as of Monday morning on a bond of $50,000.
