Betty Jo Carruth Franks peacefully passed and was quietly received as a bride of Christ on her spiritual wedding day on Monday, April 20, 2020 at 5:17 pm.  Celebrating this glorious event are her two children and their spouses, four grandchildren and their spouses, nine great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, church family and friends.

Betty was born a New Year’s Eve baby on December 31, 1935 to Raymon and Mildred Carruth in Blanket, Texas.  She has been a life-long resident of Brown County for 84 years.  She attended Blanket schools and married Olen Franks on January 20, 1955. Their union lasted 23 years.

Betty was a homemaker for 23 years, attended Central Texas Commercial College two years, and became the secretary at Austin Avenue Church of Christ for 30 years.  Her family heritage at Austin Avenue church goes all the way back to its founding.  She greatly loved the church and staff co-workers. As a dedicated servant, she would prepare the weekly bulletins and document church records. She reluctantly retired at age 76 and enjoyed being with family and friends the last 8 years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymon and Mildred Carruth, her sister Paula Jones, her brother, J.R. Carruth, and younger brother Terry Carruth, all of Blanket, Texas.

Betty is survived by her son, Rex Franks and wife Cheryl; grandson Jason Franks and wife Susan and their children Allorah, Krysta, Lilianna and Corbin, all from Brownwood; grandson Joshua Franks and wife Charlotte and their children Malone and Retta Jo, of Burleson, Texas;  daughter Karen Fleet and husband Dwight; granddaughter Candice Stuart and husband Brian and their children Ryleigh and Garrett; granddaughter Stephanie Simon and her daughter Hallie, all of Abilene, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Betty had a long courtship with her groom, Jesus.  He had already prepared a beautiful home for them, and they will reside in this heavenly dwelling together, forever. We are looking forward to the day when we will all be joined with her again in glory.

Betty will be laid to rest in the Carruth family plot in the Moro Cemetery near Blanket.

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net
