Charlie Ray Fleming, 80 (Trickham)

Charlie Ray Fleming passed from this life to be with his Lord on Monday, April 13, 2020 at 2:04 am at Shannon Medical in San Angelo at the age of 80 years.

Graveside Services will be held Thursday at Cleveland Cemetery with Jack Bryant officiating. Interment will be in the Cleveland Cemetery with services under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.

A visitation of family & friends will be Wednesday from 5:00 till 7:00 pm at Henderson Funeral Home. In accordance with the Covid-19 restrictions a group of 10 Friends & Family at a time will be allowed for the brief visit.

Charlie Ray was born in Santa Anna, Texas on June 17, 1939 to Charlie Woodrow and Thelma Marie Cupps Fleming. He was raised in Cleveland and graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1958. On June 26, 1958 Charlie Ray married Frances Lamour Stearns in Trickham celebrating 33 years of marriage. Frances preceded his in death in 1991. On September 4, 1993 he married Maria Rodriquez in Corpus Christi and they were devotedly married 27 years.

He served his country with the United States Army in active duty and reserves from 1958 till 1967. For 35 years he worked as a meat inspector with the USDA retiring in 2001. Charlie Ray and Maria moved to Cleveland in 2004 from Alice, Texas where he was an active member of the Cleveland Church of Christ. He served his community as President of the Cleveland Cemetery board. He was devoted to his family and researched and shared his love of History. Charlie enjoyed gardening and loved raising butterflies and spending time outdoors. He was always willing to lend a hand or an ear to someone in need. Charlie spent his life serving our Lord and brought countless people to know Christ and regularly leading worship services.

Son – Christopher Ray & wife Christine Fleming of Allen, Texas
2 Sisters – Peggy Sikes of Bangs, Texas
Margie Burns of Ft Worth, Texas
Several Nieces and Nephews
5 Grandchildren
Reece, Ryan, McKenna, Isabella, Taylor

Charlie Ray was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife Frances Fleming in 1991
Son – Leslie Fleming in 1993
