Brownwood News – Lindsay Smith has been selected as the next Brownwood High School (BHS) Principal.  Smith, previously an Assistant Principal at BHS, has been working as the Interim Principal since March 9.

Smith received both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Texas Permian Basin. She is a state-certified teacher, principal, and holds a Superintendent license. Smith taught English in Tyler and Brownwood before moving into the Assistant Principal role at BHS.

With a total of fifteen years in education and six in Brownwood, Smith is ready to take on her new role with plenty of Lion’s pride. Smith’s husband, Mike, a local attorney, graduated from Brownwood High School, and Lindsay is proud to be raising her kids as a part of the Brownwood Lion family. “I am so honored to be the Principal of BHS,” Smith said. “My husband was a Lion, and my children will be lions.” The Smith’s have two children, Lucy (6) and Hank (3).

The last few weeks have certainly been a challenge, and Smith’s leadership has been at the forefront of the school.

“Her work at BHS for the past several years was impressive, but her leadership over the past month as interim principal has been remarkable,” said Brownwood ISD Superintendent, Dr. Joe Young. “In a time where there was no historical context to draw from, Ms. Smith has led with character and guided the staff through a difficult time.”

“I am proud to be a Lion and proud to serve the Brownwood community,” said Smith.
