Carolyn Couch Smith, 83 (Gustine)

Carolyn Couch Smith, 83, of Gustine, TX, passed from this life Monday March 30, 2020, in Comanche.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions on large gatherings and the health and safety of Carolyn’s family and friends, a limited farewell will be given her at this time. The family is planning a Celebration of Life at a later date. Please leave condolences to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net

Carolyn entered this world on October 31, 1936, to the proud parents (J.S.) Santy and Maxine (Patton) Couch. She married Paul R. Smith on March 24th 1956. He preceded her in death on November 11th 2008. Carolyn loved to travel. She and a group of friends went to PBR events, trail rides in the mountains, visits to Yellowstone to view the wildlife, and cruised to beautiful Alaska. Carolyn worked various jobs and retired as Quality Control Specialist from Norton’s in Stephenville. She was a long time resident of Gustine. Carolyn was a member and attended Petit Baptist Church, and was an active member of the Comanche County Sheriff’s Posse Riding Club for many years. Carolyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many.

Carolyn is survived by daughter, Terri Smith of Gustine, TX; son, James Smith and wife, Donna, of Comanche, TX; grandchildren; Shelby Knoll and husband, Kyle of Waller, TX., Chad Gerhardt of Stephenville, TX.,  Leslee Heckel of Anchorage, AK., Chris Gerhardt and wife, Kristy of Dublin, TX; great grandchildren, Azzlyn Knoll,  Ethen, Corben, and Holden Gerhardt;  two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved little dog, Buttons.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Union Cemetery, PO Box 143, Gustine, TX 76455 or Albin Cemetery, 1601 CR 248, Gustine, TX 76455.
