Brownwood News – In a Monday, March 30 meeting of the Abilene City Council, a Limited Shelter in Place Order was issued for Abilene residents.  The order goes into effect at 12:00 pm Tuesday, March 31 and ends at 11:59 pm on April 14.

As of Monday morning, 11 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed by the Abilene – Taylor County Public Health District.  A total of 335 tests for COVID-19 have been performed, 11 positive, 176 negative and 148 results still pending.

The order closes hair salons, barber shops, game rooms, gyms, bowling alleys and smoking rooms.

Still allowed are attending work, obtaining supplies for food, shelter and medical care.  City parks will remain open for exercise with required social distancing but playground equipment is closed.

The order also requires persons who are sick with fever, cough or shortness of breath to self-quarantine.
