Brownwood News – Brown County Commissioners, in session Monday morning, voted unanimously to extend the previously approved Declaration of Local State of Disaster (2020-01) indefinitely as it pertains to COVID-19.

Brownwood Mayor, Stephen Haynes, addressed the court as did Tony Aaron representing the City of Early.  City of Bangs Mayor Eric Bishop also approved a local disaster declaration last week for this public health emergency.

Mayor Haynes told Commissioners that, as of Monday morning, the COVID-19 case count in Brown County still stood at two infected.

Haynes said several people in Brown County have been tested and results have been negative so far.  More tests submitted on Friday and Saturday are just being sent off today (Monday) so it will likely be mid-week before those test results are known.

According to the Declaration of Local Disaster, Brown County will work collaboratively with the City of Brownwood, the City of Early and the City of Bangs to ensure that all appropriate and necessary measures are taken to limit the development, contraction and spread of COVID-19.
