Norma Diaz, age 66, of Brownwood, died Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene surrounded by her family.

Due to the current status of COVID-19, a private family graveside service will be held at the Coleman City Cemetery.  A memorial service celebrating her life will be announced at a later time.

Mrs. Diaz will lie in repose starting at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

She was born Norma Alicia Carrillo on July 5, 1953 in Coleman.  Norma grew up in Coleman where she attended school.  She married Richard Diaz in 1972 in Coleman.  Norma obtained her license to begin a career as a Certified Nurse Aide.  She worked at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home and Holiday Hill Nursing Home where she loved and cared for many patients.  She treated each of them as if they were her own family and loved every minute of her career.  Norma and Richard moved to Brownwood in 2007 where she became a member of the Nueva Vida Church in Brownwood.  Norma loved her husband, children, and grandchildren.  Her family was her pride and joy and she deeply loved each of them.  Norma loved her extended family very much, in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Everyone held a piece of her heart. Norma enjoyed her time outdoors spending her time fishing with grandkids, family gatherings, and hanging out at the family farm; that was her happiness.

Norma is preceded in death by her mother, Cruz Quiroz Hernandez; daughter, Rebecca Lee Diaz; brother, Ramiro Ramos Quiroz; and sisters, Oralia Ramos Quiroz and Rebecca Carrillo.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Diaz of Brownwood; her children, Richard Diaz, Jr. and wife Lydia of San Antonio, Ruben Diaz and wife Viola “Nina” of Bangs, Boyd Lee Diaz and wife Melinda of Brownwood, Christopher Diaz and wife Griselda of Brownwood, Christiana Diaz Guerrero and husband Johnny Jr. of Bangs, Joshua Diaz and wife Destiny of Brownwood; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Aurora Carrillo of Acuna, Mexico; brothers, Rudy Carrillo of Winters, Israel Carrillo of Coleman, Gustavo Quiroz and wife Bessie of Abilene, Ociel Carrillo and wife Diane of Bryan.
