Brown County Sheriff’s Report

Brownwood News – The following calls were responded to by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Vance Hill was on patrol and observed a gray Buick parked on the shoulder of the road with flashers on in the 1800 block of Highway 67/84.  Sheriff Hill checked out the vehicle.  He was informed by the dispatcher the License Plate he gave did not have a record.  Sheriff Hill then observed the license plate letters and numbers had been altered.  A man was arrested for charges of Wrong, Fictitious, Altered or Obscured LP.

On February 25, at approximately 10:20 am, Deputy Andre Smoot was dispatched to the 13000 block of County Road 237 for a hit and run.  After arriving on scene, Deputy Smoot obtained photographs of the scene and head lamp that was left on the ground.  He completed a report for Duty on Striking Fixture.

On February 25, at approximately 16:19 hours, Deputy Harris, along with Cpl. Hopson, were involved in a vehicle pursuit in the 3400 block of County Road 234.  A female was subsequently arrested for Evading in a Vehicle and Evading on Foot.  She was transported to the Brown County Jail and released to jail staff.

On February 25, Deputy Toby Mathis responded to a report of a burglary.  He met with the victim and gathered information.  A report was made.  The location was CR 358 in Blanket, Texas.

On February 25, at around 17:39 hours, Deputy Ashley Harris took a report for Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse. A report was made.

On February 25, Deputy Toby Mathis responded to FM 218 in Zephyr.  This was for a report of a burglary of a habitation.  Deputy Mathis met with the victim who advised he arrived at the residence to find the door had been forced open and he had items missing.  Information was gathered and a report was made.

On February 26, at approximately 23:26, Deputy Jose Rodriguez was dispatched to Main Street in Blanket.  This was in regards to a domestic disturbance.  Both parties were separated and a report was generated.

On February 24, at approximately 11:30 am, Deputy Andre Smoot with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a Burglary of a Vehicle call, which occurred on Highway 79.  Deputy Smoot conducted an investigation and determined nothing was stolen from the vehicle.  He competed a criminal mischief report.

On February 24, at approximately 18:37 hours, Deputy M. Davis was dispatched to the 1200 block of US 67.  This was regarding dumping of a dead cow at the rest stop.
