People’s Choice and Student’s Choice Awards Named at Stars of Texas in Brownwood

Brownwood News – People’s Choice and Student’s Choice awards have been named at both the Juried Art Show at the Depot and Civic Cultural Center in Brownwood and the Salon des Refuses show at The Art Center, 215 Fisk, downtown Brownwood.  They are shown below.

People’s Choice at Art Center

This work, “Santa Elena Shallows,” by Pat Chaney of Merkle took the People’s Choice honor at the Salon des Refusés exhibit at the Art Center, 215 Fisk. Runners-up were “West Texas Water” by Crystal Goodman, “Layover Atlanta” by Jeremy Serna, and “Forever Friends” by Jimmie Hudson. Visitors to the exhibit last week voted for their favorites. The exhibit of works submitted but not chosen for the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit continues through Saturday.

Students’ Choice at Art Center

“ ‘Stay’ …So Boring” by Jo Ann Schulze of Hico was the Students’ Choice at the Salon des Refusés exhibit at the Art Center, 215 Fisk. Runners-up were “Gorman Falls” by Christine Brisley, and “La Botana” by Jeremy Serna. Students visiting the exhibit last week voted for their favorites. The exhibit of works submitted but not chosen for the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit continues through Saturday.

People’s Choice Award winner at Depot Civic and Cultural Center

Pat Chaney of Merkel captured a double win at the 22nd annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit with his acrylic “Midday Repose.” After winning the $500 Kohler Award, it was also the People’s Choice award winner, exhibit officials announced. Visitors to the exhibit during the first week of the show cast ballots for their favorite work. Runners-up were “Weathered” by Steve Miller, “Elli’s Fishing” by Dorothy Whisenhunt, and “Rock‘n Weather” by Robert Priddy. The exhibit continues daily through Saturday afternoon at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center in Brownwood.

Runners-up were “Elli’s Fishing” by Dorothy Whisenhunt, “Faith and Pride” by Amy Mowins, and “No Title” by Jana Marie Herndon. The exhibit continues daily through Saturday afternoon at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center in Brownwood.
