Brownwood Police and Sheriff’s Blotter

Brownwood News -The following calls for service were responded to in recent days by the Brownwood Police Department.

On Sunday, February 2, 2020 at approximately 23:48 hours, Officer Weaver initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 1200 block of US 67. An investigation was conducted and an arrest was made for criminal trespass. A report has been generated.

While on patrol on February 5, 2020, at approximately 22:25 hours, Officers located a subject asleep in his vehicle at the 400 block of N. Main Street. Subject was found operating a motor vehicle in public while intoxicated.  Subject was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated 2nd.

Brown County Sheriff’s Report

On February 3, at around 21:43 hours, Deputy Taylor Fletcher performed a traffic stop on a black Ford Explorer for a defective headlamp.  He observed a 0.3 gram baggie of methamphetamine in plain view, in the passenger seat.  One man was arrested.

On Monday, February 3, at approximately 06:10, Deputy Scotty Burke was dispatched to South U.S. Highway 377 in reference to burglary of a building and investigation.

On Tuesday, February 4, at approximately 11:34 am, Deputy Scotty Burke spoke with a complainant in reference to a possible fraud/information report and investigation in Bangs, Texas.

On February 4, Deputy Taylor Fletcher responded to a report on County Road 334 in Blanket that a dog had been left at an abandoned property.  A report was made.

On Tuesday, February 4, at about 19:25 hours, Deputy Simpson made a traffic stop on a grey Nissan pickup which was headed south on Main Street for running a red light at the intersection of Main Street and W. Austin Avenue.  The driver was identified.  He had a suspended Texas driver’s license for a prior Driving While License Invalid conviction.  Deputy  Simpson placed the man under arrest for Class B Misdemeanor Driving While License Invalid.  He was taken to Brown County Jail where he was released to jail staff.  The vehicle was released to the man’s son, who was on the scene.
