Betty Pat Humphries, 89 (Brownwood)

Betty Pat (Sherwood) Humphries, 89, of Brownwood passed from this life Friday, January 10, 2020.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, January 13, 2020 at Heartland Funeral Home.

The Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Eastlawn Memorial Park cemetery officiated by Bill Slaymaker.

Betty was born on April 10, 1930 in Happy, Texas to Pat & Winnie Sherwood.  She graduated Clifton High school where she met her beloved Kirby Wilbur Humphries.  In 1946 Betty married Kirby in Glen Rose, Texas and they began a life together that blessed them with 2 children.  Betty worked hard as a homemaker taking care of Kirby and their sons.  She loved to cook meals for her family as it grew through the years and was well known for her special pies and cakes.  Betty enjoyed life and you could see her love for life in the things she did.  She enjoyed water skiing and boating with family, dancing, playing bridge and card games with her grandchildren and friends.  Her very favorite hobby was playing golf with her family and friends.  Betty and Kirby spent 10 wonderful years traveling in their motor home playing golf and winning tournaments all over the United States.   She was a great cook, homemaker and a beloved wife and mom to her two sons.

Betty is survived by her two sons, Michael and wife Britt Humphries of The Woodlands, Pat and Linda Humphries of Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren, Amy Hall and husband Tra of Fort Worth, Michael Scott and wife Leslie Humphries of Bangs, Melissa Humphries of Kansas City, Missouri and James Barry Humphries of Topeka, Kansas; 4 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends that her loved her dearly.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kirby Wilbur Humphries.
