John Moody, Sr., 86 (Bangs)

Funeral services for John Moody, Sr. age 86, of Bangs, will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday December 30, 2019 in The Early Church.  Burial will follow with military honors in the Zephyr Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 5:00.

Mr. Moody died on Thursday, December 26, 2019 in Brownwood.

John Robert Moody, Sr. was born in Dallas County to William V. and Eva (Henniger) Moody.  He married Ruby Lee Trobaugh in Dallas on August 14, 1954.  Six days after getting married, John joined the US Army for the next two years.  He served in the Motor Pool and as a driver for one of the generals at his post.  Following his military service, John operated a mechanic shop in Bangs for a number of years.  He later went to work for Brownwood ISD in the Maintenance Department.  John was a member of The Early Church.

For the past few months, John was a resident of Redstone Park Assisted Living.  He enjoyed his time at Redstone, getting to visit with the residents and staff.

John is survived by his children, John William Moody and wife Mary of Pennsylvania, Jeannie Driggers of Denton, Robert Moody and wife Sharon of Garland, John Robert Moody, Jr. and wife Meria of Bangs, and Darlene Montgomery of Bastrop; a brother, William Moody of Terrell, sister, Jimmie Saulters of Denton and a brother, Arry Moody of Denton; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Moody, son, Frankie Lewis Moody, daughter, Patricia Lee Moody, a son-in-law, Dennis Montgomery and several siblings.
