Fidencio Ruiz Cantu, 74, of Brownwood passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019.

A memorial service will be at 2 PM Friday, December 27, 2019 at Heartland Funeral Homes Chapel.

Fidencio was born November 15, 1945 to Francisco and Trinidad Cantu in Lometa.  He went to school in Lometa and married Olga Garcia on July 20, 1970 starting a family that blessed them with 2 children.  Fidencio had a passion for cars from a young age that he carried throughout his life.  He worked as an auto paint & body man and owned his own shop named Cantu Paint and Body shop for a time and had a couple of used car dealerships in the Brownwood and Early area.  You could usually find him at the car auction buying cars to sale on his car lot or that he could fix up and restore to its natural beauty.  He owned a 1957 Chevy Bel Air which he entered in car shows and traveled around going to car shows.  Fidencio loved to spend time with his grandchildren and spent his off time taking them hunting and fishing.  He came from a large family and he loved to be the one cooking for all of their many get-togethers.

Fidencio is survived by his daughters, Christina Ann Cantu of Brownwood and Kathleen and husband Jose Bejarano of San Angelo; brother, Edward Cantu of Lometa; sisters, Dela Perez, Tomasa Cantu, Margie Vasquez, Sofia Sosa, Benita Vasquez, Corina Allen all of Lometa, Frances Garza & Julie Gonzales of Early; grandchildren, Andrew Ashton Arriaga, Mathew Ayden Bejarano and Nathan Abram Bejarano; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.

Fidencio was preceded in death by his wife, Olga Cantu; his parents, Francisco and Trinidad Cantu; brothers, Librado and Paul Cantu.

Condolences, tributes and memorials can be shared with the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
