Brownwood News – On Monday, December 2, Early Police investigated the report of a burglary of a motor vehicle on East Industrial Street where someone broke into several service vehicles and stole a variety of tools including battery operated grinder and other power tools.

The thieves then went to a location on West Industrial and cut the catalytic converter from a truck parked at another location. The thieves apparently used the grinder from the first burglary to cut the catalytic converter from the truck.

If anyone has information regarding these incidents, please call the Early Police Department at 325-646-5322.

On Wednesday, November 27, Officers of the Early Police Department stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 800 Block of Early Blvd. While officers were talking to the driver, they detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from the driver.  The driver was given a field sobriety test, which he failed. The driver, Richard Leon Hathcock Jr., consented to a blood test and was taken to Brownwood ER. Hathcock was then booked into the Brown County Jail for Felony DWI due to previous convictions and driving with an invalid license.
