Brownwood News – Brownwood’s Matt McCrane has landed a kicking position with the New York Guardians of the XFL Football League.

According to the Guardians website, a positional need was filled with the Guardians 9th and final pick of the 2019 supplemental draft. Matt McCrane has appeared in four games in the NFL with the Raiders, Cardinals and Steelers with a career-long kick of 47 yards. McCrane ranked 2nd in the Big 12 with 21 field goals made in 2017 and led the NCAA in 2014 with a 94.7 field goal percentage.

Head Coach and GM of the Guardians is Kevin Gilbride. They will play at MetLife Stadium when the league kicks off in February 2020.
