Brownwood News – Personnel changes were announced Monday morning within the Brown County District Attorney’s office.  Going before Brown County Commissioners, District Attorney, Micheal Murray, asked for approval of personnel changes in roles as Assistant District Attorney.

According to Murray, Chris Brown, who has been First Assistant District Attorney, is going into civil law at Haynes Law Firm.  Murray is promoting Elisha Bird, who has been in the D.A.’s office for six years, into the position formerly held by Brown.

In addition, Murray will welcome Gabriel P. Soto to the staff as new assistant district attorney.  Soto will leave his position as an Administrative Law Judge to come to Brownwood.

Murray requested Commissioners approve annual salaries of $95,000 for Bird and $75,000 for Soto, which are salaries currently budgeted for the positions, Murray said.

When it came time for a vote, it went 3 to 2 in favor of Murray’s request.  Precinct 2 Commissioner, Joel Kelton, and Precinct 4 Commissioner, Larry Traweek, voted against Murray’s request while Precinct 1 Commissioner Gary Worley, Precinct 3 Commissioner Wayne Shaw and County Judge, Dr. Paul Lilly, voted to approve Murray’s request.

In other business, County Sheriff, Vance Hill, had several employee changes, dealing mostly with promoting existing employees, all currently budgeted.  Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve the employee changes.
