Freddie Crowder, 75 (Coleman)

Freddie Crowder, age 75, long-time Coleman resident, died Thursday, September 26, 2019, at the Coleman County Medical Center.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman.

Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. James Posey, pastor of Jesus Saves Ministries,  officiating.   Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

He was born Freddie Paul Crowder on July 11, 1944, in Coleman County, a son of Jodie Crowder and Leda Wardlow Crowder.  He grew up most of his life in Coleman but lived in San Bernadino, California for several years, as a child.  He attended school in both San Bernadino and Coleman.  On October 23, 1961 he joined the United States Army, where he was stationed at Fort Hood and Korea.  On June 21, 1965 he married Brenda Kay Brooks in Coleman and she preceded him in death on May 3, 2008.  Following their marriage, they lived for a few years in Menard before returning to live in Coleman.

Freddie was the owner of FC Roofing in Coleman for over 35 years and roofed many homes and businesses in this area.    He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.   He was a man of faith who studied his Bible every day.  He enjoyed working in his yard and being outdoors.    He loved his family and will be greatly missed by them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers, Harold Crowder and Gerald Crowder.

Survivors include six children, Rodney Glen Crowder of Coleman, Joe Bob Crowder of Coleman, Sharon Luann Crowder of Coleman, Talessa Kay Dean and husband Joshua of Burkett, David Paul Crowder and wife Brandy of Santa Anna, Rebecca Lynette Crowder of Brownfield; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Ann Herring of Lometa, Velva Crawford of Garland, Juanita Baker of Coleman; one brother, J. L. Crowder of Utah.
