Modelle Boynton Townsend passed away Wednesday morning, September 25, 2019 at Oak Ridge Manor in Brownwood, Texas. Modelle was born January 9, 1920 in Comanche County Texas to Mr. and Mrs. George Edward Boynton.

Visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2019 at Heartland Funeral Home from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM followed by the 10:00 AM funeral service.  Interment will be at Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Townsend attended school in Blanket and Comanche where she graduated in 1938.  She became a Christian at the age of 12 and has been a member of the Baptist Church since that time.  She was the widow of long time Brown County Sheriff Joe R. Townsend who passed away in January 1995.  They were married for 54 years.  She was the mother Miss Jo Dell Townsend, a teacher and coach at Brownwood Junior High School, who passed away in 1977.

Mrs. Townsend retired after 20 years with the Brown County School Superintendent’s Office where she served as secretary and assistant.

Mrs. Townsend was a dedicated Christian serving for a number of years as a Sunday School teacher of children and teacher of the Martha Class at Melwood Baptist Church.  She was also involved in Women’s Missionary work at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church where she was a long-time member.

Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter.  She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Nettie Williford, Jesse Lee Day, and Frances Carroll and one niece, Jean Bramlett.

She is survived by four nieces, Kris Donley, Barbara Tate, Betty Quinones and Billie Frances Clausen and one nephew, Vic Williford.  Several great nieces and nephews also survive. They all loved “Aunt Modelle” and she loved them.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Oak Ridge Manor and Interim Hospice for their special attention and tender loving care of Aunt Modelle.
