Traffic Stop Results in Man Arrested on Numerous Charges

Brownwood News – The following calls for service were responded to by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department through the Labor Day holiday weekend.

On Thursday, August 29, a Lieutenant spoke with a man by phone in regards to his company’s fleet gas card being compromised and used.  A report from the man was taken and there are no suspects to list.

On August 30, at approximately 22:33 hours, a Corporal initiated a traffic stop on a 2003 Dodge truck for Disregarding a Stop Sign at 8th Street and Brady Avenue.  A man was subsequently arrested for numerous offenses including Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant, Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Evading Arrest and Detention in Vehicle with Previous Convictions, Evading Arrest and Detention with Previous Convictions and Theft of Firearm.  He was taken to Brown County Jail and released to jail staff.  The total weight of the controlled substance was approximately 173 grams.

On Friday, August 30, at 11:01 hours, a Deputy was dispatched to an assault call which could be handled by phone.  The Deputy spoke to a man who said, while arguing with his wife, he had been assaulted by her.  A report was taken.

On Friday, August 30, at 14:16 hours, a Deputy was dispatched to a scam call, which could be handled by phone.  The Deputy spoke with a woman who said an unknown person had scammed her out of her social security number.  A report was taken.

On August 30, Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance involving a firearm.  A man stated that another man had pointed a firearm at him at a location of Ardee Drive, County Road 215. This was while the complainant was at the suspect’s residence searching for a missing phone.  The man was later arrested for Prohibited Weapon and Theft of Property and placed in the Brown County Jail.  Multiple reports were taken.

On August 31, at 09:17 hours, a Deputy was dispatched to a burglary call, which could be handled by phone.  The Deputy spoke to a complainant who advised someone had taken some items from her boat which had been stored in storage buildings on Belle Plain Street.  A report was taken.

On Saturday, August 31, at 11:19 hours, a Deputy was dispatched to a business at Lake Brownwood on Highway 279.  This was in regards to a vehicle accident in which the man driving the vehicle struck the store with his vehicle causing structural damage.  An information report was taken.

On August 31, a Deputy was dispatched to Brownwood Regional Medical Center Emergency Room in regards to a dog bite.  A woman was bitten in the back of the head by another family member’s dog.  A report was taken.

On September 1, a Deputy was dispatched to an address on Reagor Lane.  This was in regards to possible burglary of a vehicle.  A man stated he was getting ready to leave his house for work when he realized the door of his vehicle was open.  Nothing appeared missing at the time.  A report was taken.

On September 1, a Deputy was dispatched to Brownwood Regional Medical Center Emergency Room in regards to a dog bite.  A man stated he had walked through the front door of a residence on County Road 136 and a dog, from inside the house, ran out and bit the victim’s leg.  A report has been made.
