Brownwood News – The high school football season kicks off tonight across Central Texas and all is well in the world.   Local sports heroes, bands, cheerleaders, proud parents and great concession stand food are just a few reasons why football brings community together each Friday night for the next three months.  We have some top-notch match-ups on the schedule here on opening week. Brown County teams in action are shown below.

There is a cross-county showdown between the Bangs Dragons and Early Longhorns that will get underway at 7:30 pm at Early. You can listen to the game on KBWD 1380 AM.

The Blanket Tigers have a road trip to Cherokee to take on the Indians. Game time is 7:30 pm.

The Brookesmith Mustangs will kickoff the 2019 season against the Santa Anna Mountaineers at Mountaineer Stadium in Santa Anna. Game time is 7:30 pm.

The May Tigers will travel to Richland Springs to take on the Coyotes at 7:30 pm.

The Zephyr Bulldogs played Thursday night, losing to the Bryson Cowboys 64-49.
