Elena “Edna” Ornelas, 89 (Brownwood)

Elena “Edna” Ornelas, age 89, of Brownwood went home to her Lord and Savior Sunday, August 18, 2019, at her home.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Funeral Services for Edna will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Nueva Vida Church (650 FM 45 E. Brownwood, Texas 76801) with James Ceniceros officiating; burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.

Elena was born on May 6, 1930, to Francisco and Concepcion Ballejo in Brownwood, Texas. She married the love of her life, Edward Ornelas, on December 24, 1953. Elena worked at CTO (Headstart) as a teacher and director for twenty years.

Elena is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Edward Ornelas of Brownwood; 6 children, Rosemarie Cantu and husband Ron Watson of Brownwood, Edward B. Ornelas and wife Diane of Hurst, Vincent Ornelas and wife Sherri of Brownwood, Joe A. “Tony” Ornelas of Austin, David Ornelas and wife Lanny of Florida, Lorrie Parham and husband Tim of Bedford; 10 grandchildren, Rachel Ford and husband Lee of Brownwood, Rebecca Trump and husband Adam of Brownwood, Leslie Howard and husband Nick of Irving, Ryan Parham of New York, Gabriela Ornelas of Oklahoma, Evan McBee and wife Angeline of Oklahoma, Shawn Ornelas and Riley Ornelas of Hurst, Heidi Hornsby and husband Kirk of Comanche, Heather Taylor and husband George of Saratoga; 9 great-grandchildren; and 4 loving sisters, Hope McClung of Brownwood, Connie Manning of Harrington, Delaware, Frances Sauceda of Houston, and Noemi Gonzalez of Mansfield. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Concepcion Ballejo; 4 brothers, Manuel Ballejo, Dr. Joseph Ballejo, John Ballejo, and Daniel Ballejo; and 3 sisters, Mary Gonzales, Carmen Robles, and Consuela Ballejo.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Solaris Hospice in memory of Elena. Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
