Abilene Christian University is proud to announce the Abilene and Big Country Distinguished Student Award, totaling $80,000 per student, available to graduating high school students in our area who are granted admission to ACU.

“We know our high schools have intellectually gifted and engaged students who are academically prepared for success in higher education,” said Dr. Tamara Long, vice president for enrollment management at ACU. “To honor and support our local students, we are excited to offer the Abilene and Big Country Distinguished Student Award, beginning with the entering class of Fall 2020.”

Those in the top 25 percent of their high school class – and/or who have a 3.5 core GPA or higher at the end of their junior year – will be guaranteed a minimum of $20,000 per year ($80,000 for four years) through the Abilene and Big Country Distinguished Student Award.

High school students with a 3.0 to 3.49 core GPA at the end of their junior year will be guaranteed a minimum of $17,000 per year ($68,000 for four years) through the award.

The award is available to public, private and home-school graduates who reside in any of the following counties: Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Erath, Fisher, Haskell, Irion, Jones, Mitchell, Nolan, Runnels, Scurry, Shackelford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor, Throckmorton, Tom Green and Young.

The award – a guarantee of scholarships and grants – is granted automatically unless a student qualifies for a higher academic scholarship. To review the requirements and eligibility of the award, visit the acu website.
