Brownwood News – BHS teachers and staff took some time on Thursday, August 15 to get some specific training regarding the dangers and warning signs of alcohol, the dangers of e-cigarettes (also known as Juuls), and drug misuse.

A description of the program is detailed on their website (https://watchurbac.tamu.edu/):

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, through a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), has a campaign, Watch UR BAC, to teach Texans about the dangers of alcohol and other drug misuse —including binge drinking, the understanding of alcohol poisoning as well as the dangers of impaired driving. The Watch UR BAC program is a free resource to Texas community groups, faith-based organizations, schools, and businesses.

Through the program, BHS staff were able to experience DWI impairment simulations with various equipment, specialized goggles, and learned what to watch for regarding drug and alcohol abuse and warning signs including seemly inconspicuous containers that may be used to stash or hide illegal substances.

Teachers throughout Brownwood ISD are gearing up for the new school year.  Brownwood ISD remains committed to providing teachers and staff with everything they need to provide a safe learning environment for all our students.
