Brownwood News – The Brownwood Public Library held its Summer Reading Club Finale Party on Wednesday, July 24, in the Adams Street Community Center.  “We had 112 kids meet the goal of 560 minutes (of reading) and at least 170 kids read over the summer,” said Hanna Henson, Children’s Librarian.

She added that there was a total of 163,451 minutes spent reading this summer by children in the club.  “We’re excited about it,” Hanna said of the successful summer program.  The final program for the summer series was about Monarch butterflies, presented by the Texas Botanical Gardens and Jennie Trent Dew Library of Goldthwaite.

If your child is interested in learning more about Monarch butterflies, there is a program Monday, July 29, in Goldthwaite.  The Summer Day Camp is for elementary aged kids.  It will be held at the Botanical Gardens and Native American Interpretive Center from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.  Space is limited.  For more information, call 325-648-2447.
