Brownwood News – The meeting was brief Monday morning for Brown County Commissioners.  Precinct 2 Commissioner, Joel Kelton, presided over the meeting.

Similar to last week, Commissioners approved four Resolutions dealing with bridge projects on County Roads 201, 226, 267 and 120.  The local 10 percent match can be waived by equivalent work done by the county.

The Burn Ban in Brown County, which was put in place last week, remains in place since no rain has fallen.

Commissioners voted to allow Bob Contreras, Coordinator for Grants and Government Affairs, to apply for Unclaimed Property Capital Credit for Counties.  Electric Coops that have lost contact with a previous customer sometimes report capital credits to the State Comptroller’s Office as unclaimed property.  Texas law allows counties to claim a portion of unclaimed Capital Credits originating from their county and use them for any of eight designated areas.  Among those are child advocacy, support of the arts, and economic development.  The county will see how much money they may receive and then decide a use for it.  The county did not apply for this last year.

Unless a meeting is called next week, the next Brown County Commissioner’s meeting will be on August 5th.

Video recordings of County Commission meetings are available on the Brown County website by clicking on a link on the Home Page.
