Ray L. Warren, 91, passed away June 28, 2019.  A visitation with family will be from 6 – 8 PM Tuesday, July 2nd at the Heartland Funeral Home and the Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 3rd at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Interment following at the Duren Cemetery in Mills County.

Ray L. Warren was born July 22, 1927 in Burnett, TX. He was raised in Mills County and started school in Duren.  Shortly after returning from WWII, Ray met the love of his life, Dorothy Warren, and they were married in 1948. They made their home in Brownwood, TX, where Ray did carpentry work. In 1968, he began working for the Santa Fe Railroad. They moved to Blanket, TX in 1985, and after retiring from the railroad in 1989, he began doing yard work for the surrounding community. He also worked for the Texas Bank as a courier. He participated in the Blanket City Council and the Blanket Lyons Club. He was President of the Brownwood Community Service for the Needy and was a long-time member of the Blanket Church of Christ.

Ray was a fun-loving family man who loved to tell stories and jokes. He was a one-of-a-kind guitar player who loved to play Country and Western music and spent several years playing at Aubrey’s Playhouse in Goldthwaite. Ray always enjoyed giving his grandchildren their first sucker. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and the many people he has influenced over the years.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Warren of Weatherford, TX; daughter & Son-in-law: Donna & Larry Blair of Longmont, CO; 4 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents William & Ruby Warren, one brother, Wayne Warren; one sister, Theda Spinks; and one daughter, Carol Larrentree.
