Carol J. Johansen-Hunter 62, of Lake Brownwood, passed away Monday, June 17, 2019, at her home with family by her side.   A Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor Tim Boykin, will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 10 am at the Brownwood Funeral Home Chapel.

Carol was born Aug. 30, 1956, in Hampton Iowa to Gerald and Nancy Johansen.  Carol received her primary education from CAL Community Schools in Latimer, Iowa.  Carol was active in CALs Drama Club, School Newspaper, and Basketball team, receiving various achievement awards and graduating in 1975.  Carol worked in clerical, secretarial, and service-oriented positions until she discovered her true passion for cross country trucking.  Carol met Charles “Windmill” -“Charlie” Hunter in 1996 and in 1998 began a life together at Lake Brownwood, Texas.

Carol loved trucking across the US with Charlie, Collecting Coins, Native American Mementos, and frog ceramics.  Her favorite color was pink and she loved pink carnations. Her joy of cooking and baking provided many with full bellies, especially her fudge and mashed potatoes.  She enjoyed country and gospel music but had a secret passion for 1970s Classic Rock.

Left to cherish her memories are her spouse Charles Hunter of Brownwood,  Father Gerald Johansen and wife Colleen of Eagle Grove Iowa, Siblings: David Johansen, John Johansen and Jan Stratmann, Children: Shelbi McReynolds and husband Stephen of North Richland Hills Texas, Cassie Smith and husband Michael of Ackley Iowa, Shawn Johansen of  Ackley Iowa, Sharla Hyles of Brownwood, Hank Hunter and Charlie Hunter both of Brownwood, 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and many friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal Grandmothers and Grandfathers and one sister.  Services entrusted to Brownwood Funeral Home. Burial Service entrusted to Bangs Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made at www.brownwoodfuneralhome.net
