Brownwood News – At least three units from the Early Fire Department, and two from Brownwood, responded to a grass fire approximately five miles south of Early, just off Highway 183.  The acreage burning was behind and east of Spirit of Texas Winery.  The call came in about 3:00 pm Wednesday.  Flames and thick gray smoke could be seen from the highway.  By 3:40 pm the majority of the smoke had cleared and the fire looked to be under control.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
