New Police Chief May Be Named Tuesday in Brownwood

Brownwood News – The Brownwood City Council will hold a regular meeting at 9:00 am Tuesday, June 11, at City Hall, 501 Center Avenue.   On the agenda is an Executive Session to discuss personnel, specifically hiring a new Chief of Police.  The full Council agenda is posted below.

Any citizen who desires to address the City Council on a matter not included on the agenda may do so at this time. The City Council may not deliberate on items presented under this agenda item.  To comply with the provisions of the Open Meetings Act, the Council respectfully requests that prior to addressing Council that each person submit a citizen presentation form that is located at the entryway to the Council Chambers, stating your name, address, and topic of presentation.  All presentations are subject to a five (5) minute time limit.

  1. Approval of Minutes
  2. Special Called Meeting – May 21, 2019
  3. Regular Meeting – May 28, 2019
  4. Notice of Quorum – June 3, 2019
  5. Claims and Accounts
  6. Consent Agenda
  7. Consider authorizing the Mayor’s signature on an annual certification of the military equipment displayed at Camp Bowie Memorial Park requested from the United States Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command.
  8. Requests and Presentations
  9. Consider approval of expenditures up to $27,000 for repairs and abatement of asbestos at Fire Station No. 2.
  10. Consider approval of a contract with Zac Browder in the amount of $26,277.60 for the construction of the restroom facilities at Trigg Park.
  11. Appointments
  12. Consider Mayoral appointments to the Audit Committee, Chamber of Commerce Tourism Board, Transportation Museum Board, and West Central Texas Council of Government.
  13. Executive Session

The City Council  may convene into a closed executive session in the Haynes Conference Room, pursuant to the provisions of the Open Meetings Law, Chapter 551, Government Code Vernon’s Annotated, in accordance with the authority contained in the following section:

Section 551.071 – Consultation with Attorney and Personnel Matters

  1. Approval of hiring Chief of Police
  2. City Manager annual evaluation
  3. Action as a result of Executive Session
  4. Adjournment
