“I am pleased to announce the launch of the 2019 Congressional App Challenge, and encourage any student interested in tech to apply regardless of their previous experience with coding. This challenge inspires our students in the 11th District to get creative while continuing to develop Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) skills. Learning to code will be invaluable in any student’s future as we move towards a tech-centered economy.”

The Congressional App Challenge competition takes place in congressional districts across the country, and any student in middle or high school is eligible to apply. Students can work alone or with a team to create and code their own app with resources from tech and industry professionals. The deadline for the challenge is November 1, 2019.

The winner will receive Amazon Web Services Credits, as well as have their app featured in the Capitol building and on House.gov. Students interested in applying can easily sign up at the App Challenge website and find more information about the challenge here.
