Brownwood News – The 56th Brown County Rodeo starts tonight (Thurs) at Earl Q. Wilson Arena in Brownwood.

Gates open at 7:00 pm with mutton bustin’ at 7:30.  The first 30 kids to sign up each night will compete in mutton bustin’.  Kids and parents should gather on the west side of the arena as early as 6:30 pm.  The Rodeo Grand Entry is at 8 pm. General admission at the gate will be $10 for adults and $5 for kids or advanced tickets will be $8 for adults and $3 for kids.

Rodeo events include Bareback Riding, Ranch Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Tie-Down Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Breakaway Roping, Team Roping, Barrel Racing and Bull Riding.

Due to 300 entries, not all contestants can compete during a regular performance so they will compete in Slack after the main rodeo Thursday and Friday nights.

Brandon Dunn is the Rodeo Clown this year.  Kenny “The Cowboy” Bartram  is a professional freestyle motocross rider from Stillwater, Oklahoma who will bring his high-flying show to the rodeo arena.  T.C. Long returns as your rodeo announcer and Sammy Andrews brings award winning broncs and bulls.
