Gary Edward Loomis passed away at his home on Sunday, June 2, 2019. Gary was born February 4, 1965 in Ketchikan, Alaska to Analee (Myers) Loomis and Lawrence “Larry” Loomis. After high school graduation Gary joined the US Army Reserves and trained as a medic. After his service there he joined the Alaska Air National Guard; while with that branch of service he worked on Blackhawk helicopters. During this time he traveled to various states and to Central/South America. Upon completion of his service he traveled to other countries, helping people learn what kind of seeds to plant and best growing methods to provide food for their climates and locations. He then moved to Brownwood to help his dad care for his ailing mother, where he met and married Teresa Brandstetter in 2006 making Brownwood their home. There he continued to find ways to help those in need and promote good food growing techniques both in his community and abroad.

Gary is survived by his wife, Teresa (Brandstetter) Loomis, his daughter Alia Anita (age 10), and son Paul Micah (age 11); his father Larry and stepmother Shirley Loomis; one sister, Karla Loomis of Albequerque, New Mexico; one brother, Michael Loomis of Rango, Alaska; and stepsister, Jennifer Patunack of Anchorage, Alaska; in addition to many relatives throughout Alaska and Washington states.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. this Friday, June 7, at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood, Texas. There will be a private interment at a later time by the family.
Services are under the direction of the Davis-Morris Funeral Home. On line memorials may be left at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
