Claudia Mae (Hoover) Smith

Claudia Mae (Hoover) Smith, 89, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, May 23, 2019.

Claudia was born February 21, 1930 to O.D. and Ila Hoover in Wharton County, Texas.  She graduated from Brady ISD and married Burlin Doyle Smith Sr., a marriage that blessed them with three wonderful children and 68 years of love.  Claudia was a loving wife, mother and memaw.  She loved the Lord and loved to sing alto in the Faith Baptist Church in which she was a faithful member.  The last few years she enjoyed her special bond with her “grand-dog”, Copper.  She is going to be missed by many.

Claudia is survived by her daughters, Treva Matthaei and husband Jack, Sharon Gotcher and husband Billy; son, Burlin Doyle Smith, Jr.; sister-in-law, Bertha Lou Hrochovy and husband Bill; brothers-in-law, Roy Lon Smith, Maylon Richard Smith and wife Deloris; grandchildren, Mark Gotcher, John Thomas Smith, Kristi Lyn Huxford, Chad Alan Smith, Mary Solis, Becky Contreras, D.J. Rios and Franklin Doyle Smith along with numerous great grandchildren. Former daughters-in-law, Vicki Wheeler and husband George; Patti Daniel and her husband, Blane, were also loved by her and continued to be part of the family along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Claudia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Burlin Doyle Smith Sr., her parents, O.D. and Ila Hoover, her sisters, Patsy Crow & Glenda Wills.

A visitation will be held prior to service at Heartland Funeral Home, Saturday, May 25, 2019 beginning at 1:00 PM.  The funeral service will start Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Heartland Funeral Home with interment following at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
