Brownwood News – Saturday May 11 is Stamp Out Hunger Day in America. This will be the 27th year the National Association of Letter Carriers has held a nationwide food drive. It’s the largest one-day food drive in America. Last year’s drive collected more than 70 million pounds of non-perishable food to benefit food pantries all over the country.

Food collected in Brown County will all stay local and will benefit the food pantry at St. John’s Church. The need is great. The pantry at St. John’s has seen the number of families served weekly increase about 25 percent and is now averaging 120 families every week. The food pantry depends heavily on the food collected at this drive since it is the only one benefitting St. John’s.
Saturday May 11 is the day. You can help Stamp Out Hunger by placing a bag of non-perishable food out for your letter carrier to pick up when they deliver your mail. Together we can make a difference in the lives of Brown County families who struggle with hunger every day.
