Delano Franklin Mikeska

Delano Franklin Mikeska, 84, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019.

Delano was born Monday, January 21, 1935 in Kenney, TX to Frank and Helen Mikeska. He graduated high school and served 8 years in the US Naval reserve. Delano pursued a career with Austin Industries for over 33 years as the equipment manager. He was involved in building numerous bridges, roadways and various other aspects of the transportation system. Delano married his beloved wife, Donna Fry June 1st, 1979 in Brownwood, TX. He was a man with a sense of adventure. They loved to travel, enjoy the beautiful world God has made for us, hiking in the mountains or walking along the beaches together, it was always an opportunity to explore. Delano enjoyed his time with family spoiling grandkids and great-grandchildren. He was a long time member of the Grace Lutheran church in Brownwood, TX.

Delano is survived by his wife, Donna Mikeska of Early; son, Mark and wife Paula Hale of Brownwood; grandchildren, Kandyce and husband Josh Conely, Katherine and husband Devin Munoz of Abilene, Kassie and husband Austin Baugh of Brownwood, Tucker Hale of Early, TX; sister-in-law, Pat Mikeska and 6 great-grandchildren.

Delano was preceded in death by his parents, brother Floyd Mikeska, and nephew, Michael Lynn.

Services for Delano will be held at Heartland Funeral Home, 303 Early Blvd., Early, TX 76802 at 10 AM, Thursday, April 25, 2019 officiated by Eddie Ailshie and interment following at Eastland Memorial Park.

The family truly appreciates the love and kindness shown by Dr. Morales and his staff, the care given by staff at CARE Nursing & Rehabilitation, and the special grace and friendship given by Solaris hospice.
