Two Arrested Thursday in Ongoing Meth Investigation

Brownwood News – As a result of ongoing investigations into the distribution of methamphetamine in Brown County, two separate search and arrest warrants were executed.

On Thursday as a result of ongoing investigations into the distribution of methamphetamine in Brown County, two separate search and arrest warrants were executed.

On Thursday, March 28, 2019 at approximately 7:00am, members of the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Brownwood Police Department SWAT teams executed a narcotics search and arrest warrant in the 3700blk of Savoy Dr in Brownwood.

During the execution of the search warrant, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine was recovered from the residence along with packaging for narcotic distribution. Arrested at the scene was 55yr old James Bryan Tawater of Brownwood. Mr Tawater was booked into the Brown County Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 in a Drug Free Zone with Intent to Deliver.

In furtherance of that investigation, on Friday, March 29, 2019, at approximately 8:00am, members of the Brownwood Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Teams executed a narcotics search and arrest warrant in the 1800blk of 13th St in Brownwood.

During the execution of that warrant, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and approximately 102 grams of marijuana were located. In addition to these narcotics, evidence was located indicating continued narcotics distribution.

Scott Wayne Bernard, 57yrs old, of Brownwood was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail where he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

Brown County residents are reminded and encouraged to report suspicious activity related to the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics. Residents who wish to remain anonymous can call the Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers at 800-222- TIPS (8477).
