Clarence Lee Dorman

Clarence Lee Dorman, 88 went to be with his Lord and love of his life on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 1:05 a.m. at Care Nursing Home surrounded by family at his bedside. 

Clarence was born December 18, 1930 in Bouton, IA to Carl and Anna (Ullrich) Dorman.   He was the

youngest of three boys.  He graduated from Minburn High School, Minburn, IA and married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Mullins on Oct. 7, 1951.  They made their home outside DeSoto, IA. He served in the Korean War in the Army from January 1952 through December 1953.  After the war he farmed the family farm for 4 years then went to work for Pioneer Hi-Bred International Plant Breeding Division in the Department of Sorghum Breeding.  In 1967 Pioneer moved the family to Taft, Texas where he continued his research and developed a hybrid 8313 that was patented and was one of the most successful hybrid’s developed for south Texas.  He retired in August 1986 after 28 years.He then devoted his life to his true love of serving his Lord.  He was adored and respected by all his family and was a wonderful Christian example.  He was a member of the Early Church of Christ.  He taught Bible class, worked in prison ministry, and loved to lead and sing songs of praises!

Clarence is survived by his daughters, Becky Hodges, Carol Pawlik and husband Mike, Linda Worley and husband Donnie; grandchildren, Tawnya McDorman, Mandy Kocian and husband Jon, Chase Hodges and wife Jessica, Angie Madrazo and husband Chris, Amy Faris, Julie Whitworth and husband Jeff, Josh Worley and wife Jill and Jenny Conger and husband Cody; 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Clarence was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patt; his parents, Carl and Anna Dorman; brothers, Rollie Dorman and Roy Dorman and sister-in-law Juanita Dorman.
